Claude Terranova starts learning piano very young. At the age of 13, his father introduced him to composition and handed it over to Julien Falk. He continues his training with Marie-Claire LAROCHE (assistant of Aldo CICCOLINI at C.N.S.M.D.P.) for piano, and Solange CHIAPPARIN (professor at C.N.S.M.D.P.) for writing and composition.
But it's jazz that already fascinates him. He meets Christian Rameil (pianist at Claude Luter) and works with him on the Tatum Art rolls. Subsequently he played in the quartet of Claude Tissandier, then founded the "FUNK JAZZ QUARTET" with saxophonist Claude Braud. At the same time, he improvises for the Choreographic Research Group of the OPERA DE PARIS, and plays for many invited contemporary companies.
At 22 years, his road crosses that of the "QUINTETTE DE SAXOPHONES OF PARIS" which he will become the main arranger. For this quintet, he composes "METAMORPHOSE" for 5 saxophones edited on record (Corelia) alongside pieces by Lucie Robert, Jean-Michel Defaye, and Jean-Claude Naude. Moving from classical orchestration to synthesizers, he signed and recorded all of the synthesized music for the "Thousand Years in the Tree" show (counterpart of the "PUY DU FOU") in BELGIUM.
He then creates the duet "TERRANOVA-SOUVERBIE" (piano, bass) which will be awarded at the competition of the Defense, plays with the "NORTHCIL QUARTET" of the composer and arranger Louis Vigneron (Triptyque Orchestra), mounts a trio with Claude Mouton and Olivier The Goas. Finally it can be heard on keyboards in the sextet of Abdou M'Boop with Etienne M'Bape.
Are working with the "QUINTETTE DE SAXOPHONES DE PARIS" continues; He participated in the recording of an album alongside Martial Solal with Guy Pedersen and Daniel Humair. At the same time, he co-signed a film score (short film) with Djamel Allam.
A close collaboration of several years then involves Claude Terranova in two consequent projects. The first with Pierre Blanchard around the disc "GULF STRING" for which he is both a composer, arranger and performer before joining the violin at many concerts.
The second with the bassist Pascal Teillet, where he immerses himself happily in a multi-ethnic bath, realizing, after a big work of composition and programming, the album "TOUKOULEUR".
The group composed of Claude Terranova (piano, keyboards), Pascal Teillet (bass), Cyril Atef (drums) and Arnold Moueza (percussion), is a formidable Catalyst of artistic energies that brings to the sandstone recordings or concerts of guests as : "King" Mensah, Papa Wemba, Jean Philippe Darry, Annick Tangora, Sclavic, Cirius Martinez, Katia Vernek (voice), "Magic" Malik (Flute), Peter Tollo, David Boato (Trumpet), Guillaume Naturel (Saxophone) ...
An artist in constant search, he enthusiastically fuses with the world of Alfrédo Arias. This jazz musician thus signs the music of "FAUST ARGENTIN", as well as that of a show created exclusively for Canada. In addition to the composition,
Claude Terranova is the musical director of Alfrédo Arias' shows and directs artists such as: Frédéric Briet Bargeon, Thierry Arpino, David Venitucci, Sylvain Gagnon (Joey Calderazzo's bassist), Haydée Alba, Alma Rosa, Osvaldo Calo, etc...
Moreover, it is found in different contexts: on the big stage of the festival of humanity, he is pianist and arranger in the company of Philippe Servin, for the show "ARAGON" with: Sapho, Jean Guidoni and Philippe Léotard.
For the creation of a CD featuring French jazz composers with Eric Barret, Jean-Louis Chautemps, François Jeanneau, Faton Cahen and Yochk'o Seffer, he is both a composer and a pianist.
His path will cross again that of a formation of reeds. On three occasions, the virtuosos of the quartet "EDISON" ask him to write original pieces for their albums. For these four clarinettists, Claude Terranova composes "NUIT BLANCHE", "OPIUM", and the "GERSHWIN'S SUITE".
It can also be enjoyed by Philippe Maté, in the quartet of British saxophonist Pete Osborne, as a guest of the big band "VENTS CONTRRAIRES" by Louis Vigneron, with the guitarist Christophe Rime, with the extravagant trio TLB (Terranova, Lété, Bonfils), or in solo piano, mosaic show of his multiple experiences.
