Press around the Trio "TLB"

"Imaginative"

A nice record of three accomplices who play together for several years. This is understood. They know how to create climates, tell stories .. ... The musicians embroider on the melodies they invent in the studio (those of the plain, open letter).

In addition, this very tight trio improvises brilliantly on standards, themes which they blur the tracks and that they sometimes make unrecognizable.
A piano sings and invents in tune with a bass and a drum in phase.
This sincere and inspired jazz listens with pleasure.

Here are three musicians with a well-filled CV ... Eight years ago, they formed the TLB trio where, united by their experiences around jazz, they wanted to give free rein to their passion for improvisation. Their credo is the creation in real time and the music of the present moment.

This record is recorded under the conditions of the Live to preserve this spontaneity which is the hallmark of TLB.

The result is a success, as the three musicians, whose technical skills are not to be bragged, manage to play with one voice. While most of the repertoire is composed of originals, there are also four subtly diverted rehearsals (Giant Steps, Solar, Summertime and Michelle) where the melody, half masked by the arrangement, plays hide-and-seek with the listener.

A real trio !

Beyond improvisation ... poetry.

TLB is Terranova-Lété-Bonfils and good news for jazz. Triple Cross introduces us to its percussive and convincing music, endowed with a clean aesthetic, where poetry and melodious improvisation prevail over technicality and energy.

To talk about it, Matias Kusnierz and Jérôme Gransac met at the Alouette in the 13th district of Paris. (Read the rest of the article)

«Drummers and trios: André Ceccarelli and TLB»

What are the specificities of this trio ? A question to ask as the piano-bass-drums formula is common today.

We quickly understand that the collective game is the priority in this training. It is even the constructor element since the structures are minimal and the music is written in the moment through the improvisations. The most surprising thing about this trio is that this spontaneity does not exclude the melody, the rhythms, and the harmonic references.
These three musicians have incorporated implicit codes that allow the construction of forms in the moment.
The quality of the individual game is also a feature of TLB

Claude Terranova, open and sensitive pianist, Tony Bonfils, contrabassist with widely recognized expertise. We will focus on the remarkable performance of Christian Lété, a drummer whose efficiency and value comes from a global approach to percussion that allows him to put the right touches of color where it is needed by a subtle use of cymbals and some finely tuned accessories (the introduction of Giant Steps: bells and piano) ... Finding it in this context is a real pleasure !

"Reach happiness with ........"

Finally a jazz record that is good for the ears, presenting something other than a music for midwives, for baba-cool accustomed to hit-parades, or for intellectuals who persist in explaining things or notes that are not do not ask as much. The name of this superb album recorded in France is "Triple Cross", the fruit of the meeting of three musicians who enjoyed playing songs of their composition, spontaneously and without partition.

No fear to have, because improvisation does not necessarily rhyme with movement "free" but with a style reminiscent of that of the group E.S.T, or Trio Brad Meldhau. And at this level, let's recognize that it has worse as a musical reference Each member of the trio also enjoys the opportunity to express themselves as freely within the group as when taking solos. One for all! All for one. No first, no last.
Just jazz, and good jazz. The group is called TLB, the merger of the initials of these three musicians of the place, who have nothing beginners. Here it feels the experience, the pleasure of playing, of getting a kick out and of taking the listener to the happiness of the first to the last note.

TLB with T as Claude Terranova. Highly colorful character, touch to all jazz, as brilliant in this tonic and personal register that he was romantic in his previous album "Evanescence".
A high class artist. No mannerism, no effect of sleeve, Fast and effective. Love Coast: ten out of ten
TLB with L as Christian Lété, drummer and percussionist polymorphic, perhaps the most discreet of the trio which does not detract from its intrinsic qualities Finally TLB, it is also the B Tony Bonfils, surprising and excellent bassist to the in the art of distilling the basic rhythm of this improvised music as in that of sailing in one's own soli.

Triple Cross is an excellent album that will appeal to both connoisseur and novice who wants to take his first steps on the planet jazz.
Free improvisation, but which nevertheless remains well regulated by the repertoire composed of the trio's personal scores, but also by these astonishing rehearsals of the Beatles, Gershwin and Miles Davis. Nothing but good and very good. A highly recommendable album that will probably be one of the pleasant surprises of the 2009 jazz releases.
